Not Again!

We could use your prayers. It looks like Tourette’s has hit our house again. Our sweet Rachel this time. Late Tuesday afternoon she started having uncontrollable, facial ticks and eye blinking. We immediately thought Tourette’s. I called the doctor and they said it could be her new medicine causing this side effect. We were instructed not to give it to her and make a doctors appointment in the morning. We couldn’t get in to see her doctor until yesterday and her ticks had gotten worse. The doctor said it is very, very rare. 1 in “many thousands” for this reaction to happen because of the medicine she was on. We desperately wish we had more to go on, but honestly, the main thing that concerned us was the doctor's reaction. She was empathetic to the point of focused concern. She said she'd only seen this once before in her entire career...and that's how she worded it. Obviously, there are meds to address the symptoms if it's Tourette's, but they don't really want to do that until they've determined which it is...just an “allergic reaction” to her medication or a more permanent problem. So we’re waiting it out, hoping that the symptoms will leave as soon as the meds are out of her body. The doctor said to wait until Monday. But, as we get further away from her having the medication in her system we aren’t seeing any changes in her ticks. Which the doctor thought we should be. The language she is using to describe them and talk about them sounds like Jack did with Tourette’s. She is saying things like, “I keep getting stuck”. Or “I tried to hold them in while I was paying for my shoes because I’m embarrassed” After she tries to hold them in she really has a tick fit. She looks like she’s being electrocuted. It has been heartbreaking to watch her. Also, due to her jaw and neck ticks she is in quite a bit of pain. They are NON STOP. The only reprieve she is getting is during sleep. Please pray for us. I don’t even know what to ask in prayer. Just please pray.

Today King not only experienced NON-STOP attention from the girls but he also had Chick-fil-A and tacos for the first time. We went to Target to pick up a few things. He also went to soccer tryouts with Jack. And of course, made slime with Rachel!
